Recently I have embarked on a photo essay together with ~
freshtake, on a juvenile halfway house that has been serving the community for over 20 years. This institution for all intents and purposes will be moving into a new location for housing better facilities and a wealth of other amenities. It so happens that their new home was once my former primary school
(pure coincidence). It has also lead to further collaborations with the home to compile enough images to decorate a feature wall in the reception lobby of the new home, a corporate video by LaSalle media students, and a commemorative book featuring success stories that have emerged from some of the former tenants, now rehabilitated through assistance by their guidance consellors.
This project also serves as good preparation for my road trip, which is still yet to be finalized. Between the classes I'm taking in studio photography and the photo essay, I'm pretty much buried. But all things in perspective, I'm glad I found what I love to do..., to observe the human condition.
This entry is just a brief respite from the daily routine where I barely have time to collect my thoughts and really appreciate where I'm from, where I'm going and ultimately where I'll end up. It is after all;
"living by the seat of your pants" lifestyle but it serves me well in discovering my purpose. At times it just hits me and I wonder what could have been different, whether anything I could have done differently to maybe alter the course of things. But then I digress; so many people go through life never knowing, let alone discover their true passion.
"It is insanity; doing the same thing over and over again, expecting different results." as what Einstein said.
In retrospect, against everything I have been taught about doing the right thing. Doesn't necessarily translate well into being the right thing to do. Admidst all the things going on around us, are we still content on doing things the same way? See the world with eyes wide open, taking in the human experience and transcending all realities of what it means to be human. Change is upon us and as we choose to see change, we then affect change upon which we all are touched.
Just like we may envisioned or having that imprinted on us as children, we usually turn out so much diferrent than what we thought we would be. Ironic? Perhaps. But one thing is clear. No matter what we do to reassure ourselves that we are in control, life has a way of steering us wherever it may please. So let the cards fall where they may. You'd be surprised how much you've changed since reading the first paragraph of this entry...
On that note, I wish you all love. Thank you to all my recent watchers and those that have shown their support these past four years. Below are a few works I find to be exceptionally inspiring and thought provoking. Hope you guys show them some love. Be sure to keep your equipment safe, shoot hard, shoot long, shoot often and never delete anything..
