Sultan Mosque HDR

Masjid Sultan or Sultan Mosque built in 1928, holds dearly to the hearts of all Singaporean Muslims. It is a premier mosque in Singapore and considered 'de facto' by the Muslims as the 'grand national' mosque. Backed by a history of 178 years it has lived through the transformation of Singapore from tiny fishing villages spotted in Telok Blangah (now World Trade Centre), Kampong Melaka along the west bank of Singapore river and Kampung Glam on the bank of Rochor river, into a cosmopolitan city state of the Republic of Singapore.

** A mix of Persian, Moorish and Turkish themes that together form what is known as the Islamic Saracenic style. Designed by Irish architect Denis Sentry from the Swan & McLaren architectural firm, which was also involved in other landmarks like the Raffles Hotel and the Victoria Memorial Hall.
